Tekken Tag Tournament, being the first Tekken title for the PC, featured vastly detailed graphics and improved quality music. It was also notable for having the largest character roster in the series until the release of Tekken 6, boasting an extravagant 39 characters, all returning from the previous installments in the series, save for Unknown, the boss character, and Tetsujin, a costume swap for Mokujin. Unknown is similar to Mokujin in that she can replicate other fighting styles, but she can also switch styles by clicking the right analogue stick. Both Unknown and Tetsujin have only appeared in this game. Finally, its most important feature is its tag system. A player selects two characters and may tag out between them to utilize special combos and throws. Characters can be tagged out to recover energy, but if one character is KO'd, the round ends. When in Team Battle mode, the fights are also tag fights unless there is one person left on a team where they will fight alone.

• The gameplay was compared to other similar games like Diablo, The Legend of Zelda, and to an extent, Final Fantasy.^[1] Players seek out enemies, and then rapidly press the attack button to attack them. Spells could also be cast with varying strengths by holding down the spell button, allowing you to cast more powerful spells, but allow the enemies to close in on you.
• One unique quality the game had was allowing players to switch between two different classes per level, using "Guardians". On each level up, players were able to pick between playing as a spell casting character, or a melee fighting character. This was an interesting feature, but generally useless - if you play as the melee character, you would gain points in Strength, which is useless to you as a spell casting character, and if you play as a spell caster, you gain points in Magic, which is useless as a melee fighter.^[2]
• Players were encouraged to play for long periods of time. Each group of enemies you cleared raised the experience point bonus from the next group by 1%. The longer a person played, the more experience they would get with each enemy killed.

Why did some of you just cringe? Oh, I said “fan-made“. Right, well, to ease your concerns, this was made by one of the animators/clean-up artists of the Pokémon anime. This thing has quality, the graphics are downright beautiful, and it’s extremely detailed right down to the backgrounds. It’s still somewhat small of a game, but it’s quite the amusing distraction.

This is actually a very old game and has been around for years, but like they say, “if I haven’t seen it it’s new to me“.
